On Thanksgiving Monday we had dinner with the Post side of the family and spent the afternoon and evening playing games, checking out the animals and eating a delicious turkey dinner. I am personally not a fan of turkey, but the enthusiasm behind it all makes it exciting and lots of fun. Though I don't have many pictures of the family, we were able to celebrate with my 3 grandparents and reminisce about the one that is no longer with us. There's nothing quite like the memory of Opa wiping his fingers on his socks while he ate instead of the napkin or dukie that lays in front of him on the table. Even though I dislike when they talk of issues in the church and the conversation gets heated and loud, I did kind of miss it last night since it didn't really happen unless Opa was there. It happened last night again, but it's nothing compared to how it was when Opa was in on it. Funny how those things work out, hey? Another thing that happened yesterday was that I called my daughter by my sister's name. I suppose one could tell where my mind was other than in present times where it was supposed to be. As soon as I said it, my heart skipped a couple beats and my body paused in mid stride while I absorbed what had just happened. And then all too quickly, life just kind of went on going. We went to my parents, ate dinner, played games, drank wine...and took pictures. Here is a latest of Ryan and I.
We both kind of look like we are on drugs. And this was before dinner even!
On a completely different note, my mom has 2 cows that she takes care of who in turn take care of her grass and once a week she gets a whole truck load of bread from a bakery that is either not yet expired (That stuff goes in my freezer) or stuff that is quite expired. Mom feeds this bread to the cows and it has become Camia's new 'chore' (if you want to call it that) to help Mom feed the cows. Camia loves it. Anytime we mention Oma or going to Oma's house, she asks to feed the cows. She gets to sit on a chair, shake all the bags empty into a garbage can
and then go outside and feed the cows. It took a bit of convincing, but in the end she gave the bread to the cows herself.
Though she loves to feed the kittens and watch them eat,
She is terrified of them otherwise. She doesn't want to hold them and when we lift them to her, she starts in panic mode. So we just let her watch. This is her kitten:

At least Camia isn't terrified to see the animals up close :) One day she'll get even closer.
