A totally random fact

While waiting for photos to upload on facebook, I decided to do a completely random fact search on when potato chips were invented.

Apparently they were invented by George Speck, also known as George Crum, in 1853 when he got annoyed with a customer because said customer repeatedly complained that the standard fries were too thick for his liking. Out of spite, George sliced the potatos so thin and baked them crisp so the customer couldn't spear them with anything sharp with out breaking them. This plan, though intended for spite, backfired and by 1932 the first Lays Potato Chip factory popped up, set up by a man named Herman Lay. By 2003, over 65,000 people worked in the chip industry and U.S. retail sales are over $6 billion a year.

I thought this was an interesting tidbit.
